The traditional farm-boat Tjutt-Tjutt

Farm-boat (storbåt)

The farm-boats have traditionally been used by fishermen and farmers in the Stockholm, Åland and Turku archipelagos for fishing and transport of herring, hay and cattle since the 15th and 16th century. When they were used for transporting fish to the markets in cities a cabin was built. Originally the farm-boats had a square rig.

Tjutt-TjuttTjutt-Tjutt was built by Hasse Holmström in the Åland Islands on the island of Björkö. Tjutt-Tjutt is an open and spacious boat and thanks to the square rig everyone is able to participate in sailing of the boat.
